Can you tell us a bit about d:class?

d:class automotive Ltd are an award-winning, high-end Classic and Supercar Automotive Trimshop in the countryside of Surrey. Established in 2005 by founder and Director, David Price, who started off as an young trimmer of modern Mercedes interiors, to a team of 14, now serving various Supercar Manufacturers, Hypercar specialists, Classic Car enthusiasts and Motorsport Teams, including Formula 1.

How did you hear about us?

We were recommended to yourselves by a client of ours who work closely with RetroPower, meaning their builds are now featured fully under the umbrella of GlobalWorkshop.

What problem were you trying to solve?

Our biggest issue was clarity within a job in terms of how long the job had taken and how much a job had cost not only in labour ours, but more importantly additional costs along the way? We had a very old school approach with each build being documented in a paper job pack ( I know, very retro!) This worked very well, to a point. But unfortunately what tended to happen on a few two long-term builds would be that over a period of time, either pages of consumables would go missing, or even the full job pack! Also, with a singular job pack, it would often end up being filed in a staff members workbench drawer where he/she had been on the job for several months, meaning as this was not easily accessible, other staff members input was often forgotten about, or not accounted for. This was an easy oversight when members of staff were on annual leave.

How was the problem affecting you?

We would find at the end of a long-term build, some which were in excess of 12 months, we would not have collated the relevant paperwork to account for every part and consumable that was used on the project. As this was not clear to see, the cost was often not passed on to the customer which in turn, meant that some jobs were likely not to be profitable at all!

Why did you choose to go ahead with GlobalWorkshop?

In simple terms, we would rather pay GlobalWorkshop a monthly subscription, than continue to allow thousands of pounds of parts and consumables to be left off of invoiced jobs at the end of each year.

How has GlobalWorkshop Jobs helped?

GlobalWorkshop gives us the ability to monitor every aspect of a build, where all jobs are visible at the same time, to all members of staff, without the option to misplace elements of expenses paperwork. It also gives clarity to all staff and management as to how a job is progressing and this helps build further pride in peoples work.

Are there any other benefits you have got from GlobalWorkshop?

GlobalWorkshop has benefitted us tremendously in monitoring all aspects of our projects and we are only in the infancy of where this platform can take us

What would you say to other people considering us?

I would say to anyone considering GlobalWorkshop to think about how much money is missed on invoicing, whether that be through consumables, labour or parts. If this is something your business suffers with, the monthly subscription is a small price to pay for ensuring this doesn’t happen in the future!

What's next for GlobalWorkshop & d:class?

We are still in the infancy stage of what GlobalWorkshop can do for us as a business, but I am excited for what the future holds with the inventory and invoicing aspect of the program, which would save an incredible amount of hours every week. We are currently building concours cars for Villa D’Este, Pebble Beach, Goodwood FOS and SEMA and we are looking forward to seeing how these fair on GlobalWorkshop with all the team involved.
